The flooring in particularly heavy pedestrian traffic areas such as shopping malls and public transport termini requires especially hardwearing properties, dimensional accuracy and high abrasion and impact resistance. The material must also be easy to clean and maintain in a pristine condition and must have a coefficient of friction appropriate for the area of use in order to ensure the safety and well being of pedestrians. Shackerley’s ceramic granite floor tiles meet all these criteria and with an extensive range of colours, grains, patterns, surface and tile formats available, open up an extensive range of design options for the specifier and flooring contractor. Shackerley’s tiles can be manufactured to replicate the effect of marble, terrazzo and granite, but they offer all the durable, hardwearing and impervious benefits of fully vitrified ceramic granite, without the flaws and weaknesses of naturally quarried stone. Specially selected aggregates and minerals are incorporated to deliver different aesthetic effects inherent in the body of the tile, and these effects can be enhanced and emphasised by special polishing processes at the factory. Standard production tile sizes range from 200 x 200mm up to 600 x 1200mm but bespoke tiles and slabs can be made in larger formats, up to 1300mm x 1750mm and up to 30mm thick, ideal for seating, counter and vanity tops. Shackerley also supplies a full range of ancillary products including epoxy adhesives and grouts, sealants, movement control systems and entrance barrier matting. |
