ISG has secured a £1.4 million project with DC Leisure to extend fitness facilities and enhance accessibility at the Arena Leisure Centre in Camberley, Surrey. Ranked in the top tier of leisure centres across the country, Arena Leisure Centre has directly benefited from DC Leisure's pioneering approach of using partnership funding to support and manage public leisure amenities on behalf of local authorities.
Working throughout the leisure centre, ISG will systematically update and modernise the facilities across a carefully phased programme. Minor demolition works will be carried out on the first floor fitness suite, with an additional mezzanine floor added to increase overall capacity by approximately 64 sq m, and a disabled access lift installed. The existing dance studio will be extended and the 'wet side' changing village refreshed, with the installation of new suspended ceilings, lighting features and new lockers.
A key area of the project sees the refurbishment of the health suite, with ISG installing a new spa and upgrading existing steam room and sauna facilities. The members changing area will be stripped out and refurbished to a high specification and a new accessible changing area constructed. The reception area will be improved to enhance accessibility and the existing café remodelled and updated. All work will be carried out whilst the centre continues to operate, with the project scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
