ISG - Leisure Development - Farnborough, Hampshire

Date: 06 Oct 2008

International construction services group ISG has completed the build of the £30 million Aviator hotel in Farnborough. Billed as the 'UK's sexiest airport hotel', Aviator is owned by TAG Aviation, the company that operates the exclusive private airport TAG London Farnborough, and is located close to the airport.

Aviator, designed by Hamilton Associates to look like an aeroplane's propeller, features a complex curvilinear metal roof structure with a curved central atrium and glass aluminium cladding to the façade, with interiors by award-winning interior designer, Amanda Rosa.

This sleek new hotel has been created for the international business community flying to and from TAG London Farnborough and for the many hi-tech, defence and aerospace companies located in the hotel's vicinity. It is being operated by McCulloch Unique Hotels, headed up by Malmaison and Dakota hotel chain founder Ken McCulloch.

The four-storey hotel houses 169 bedrooms including 19 sky studios (suites), the 100-seater Brasserie restaurant a Deli, two bars with views of the runway and seven meeting rooms, with seating for up to 35 delegates boardroom style or 100 people theatre style.

Speaking of the project, ISG's John Ness said:

"The strikingly-designed Aviator is a fantastic addition to ISG's New build portfolio and a great example of ISG's capabilities. Given the inevitable challenges of working next door to one of the UK's busiest private airports, completing the hotel on time is a real accomplishment and testament to the robust schedule of works we developed with the TAG Farnborough professional team.
