Extranets
What it involves
An extranet is a website that can only be entered by people with a password. You can use extranets for a variety of things, such as:
- managing a project
- reporting to clients and partners
- giving information to members and receiving their comments
- resolving disputes
- document management
- invoicing.
Many extranets have a content management system (which means the client updates the extranet). The password structure often has three layers:
- the administrator who has total access and decides who in the organisation can update the site
- the executives who update the site
- the clients or members who can see the extranet pages.
The password structure can, of course, have more layers if necessary. We cannot show examples as extranets are confidential, but here is what one of our clients says about their extranet:
